Lincolnshire parents 'put children's lives at risk'

Lincolnshire parents are being warned they are putting their children's lives at risk by failing to fasten their seatbelts.

The Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership says research shows 65 per cent of children in the county are unrestrained when they travel in cars.

"I can't imagine there's any parent who would want to risk their child's life," says the Group's Steve Batchelor. "But by taking them to and from school and around without putting seat belts on that's exactly what you're doing.

"Seat belts, to me, has always been one of the easier issues to understand. Certainly when you're talking about restraining your children in the car, it just seems like there would be no debate there," he added.
