Bus ads urge Leicestershire drivers to belt up
A bus campaign is advising Leicestershire drivers to 'belt up' in the wake of figures showing that 12 per cent of men and five per cent of women drivers in the county admit to not wearing seat belts.
The graphics cover the entire side and rear of two buses. A special film allows passengers to see out while the message is visible to everyone on the outside.
"The buses are a great way of promoting road safety directly to a large number of road users on a daily basis," said Roger Miller, deputy leader of Leicestershire County Council.
Leicestershire Police recorded 76 injury collisions involving drivers or passengers who were not wearing a seat belt during 2004, and a further 56 to date in 2005.
