Say no to risk, campaign says

Fife Road Safety Unit has launched Say No To Risk - a campaign to empower people, particularly the young, to take control of their lives and treat roads with respect.

"Young people are putting themselves at risk by the behaviour they adopt when near roads," said Jane Greer, Fife's road safety manager. "By wearing the campaign wristband they agree to be a responsible pedestrian, driver and passenger.

"As a pedestrian they have agreed to adopt a safer attitude and look before they cross, not run across the road, and use pedestrian crossings where available," she adds. "With regard to drivers and passengers the campaign raises awareness of the need to wear a seatbelt and reduce the chance of becoming a 'missile' and injuring other people in a crash."

The campaign wristband costs £1 with proceeds going to the Fife Pass Plus initiative, which aims to make new drivers safer drivers.
