Posters cross county borders

105 'poster signs' have been unveiled on various stretches of Norfolk's roads in the latest phase of a campaign targeting motorcyclists that started back in 2004.

And this year, for the first time, the initiative has spread across the border into neighbouring Suffolk, where the county council is using identical signage - so bikers crossing county borders are getting the same message.

The campaign encourages drivers to be aware of the presence of motorcycles and motorcyclists, and as such to think about their plans and decisions. The campaign runs through most of the year, though the signs are removed during winter months.

Peter Walton, Norfolk RSO, said: "We hope that the messages are meaningful. Some motorcyclists should ride more defensively and riders need to improve their riding plans and decisions - especially when overtaking and assessing hazards."
