Colin Pettener awarded MBE
 Shropshire road safety professional Colin Pettener was awarded the MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
As County RSO with Shropshire County Council for more than 24 years, Colin Pettener was instrumental in the introduction of the National Driver Improvement Scheme (NDIS). The founding chairman of the Association of NDIS providers, he also helped to form the Shropshire group of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
A winner of the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award in 2002 for his contribution to NDIS and his commitment to road safety, Colin was also awarded the Lynda Chalker Award in 2004.
Colin's first road safety position was with the City of Manchester in 1972. He then joined Rochdale council where he delivered road safety training in schools across the borough. He is now a member of the management team at Telford Training Consultants where he is helping to provide road safety training courses for industry.
"I am very proud and pleased to receive this award. It is a great honour and I would like to thank all the people I have met in the world of road safety during my long career," he said .
