Road safety
veterans receive Linda Chalker Awards
Two long-serving road safety professionals have become recipients
of Linda Chalker Awards, which were presented at the LARSOA
AGM on Tuesday of last week.
First, John Moss (top pic) received his award for
30 years of service that will conclude at the end of March 2004.
Originally from Essex, John first took the position of CRSO in Cleveland
on leaving the RAF in 1974. He was then appointed CRSO in Cheshire
in 1983, where he has remained ever since.
John
who was described as being never short of a carefully
thought out opinion by LARSOA chair Steve Whitehouse
received an MBE for services to motorcycling several years ago.
The
second recipient, Colin Pettener, also joined the
profession from the RAF.
His first post was assistant RSO in Manchester, from where he moved
to Rochdale in 1976. In 1979 he became CRSO in Shropshire where
remained until he retired recently. He has subsequently taken up
a consultancy role with Telford Training Consultants (TTC).
