Pupil wins prize in seatbelt competition

Luton’s road safety team, in partnership with Bedfordshire Police and Bedfordshire County Council, unveiled the winners of the region’s 2004 seatbelt competition on 2 February.

Children from junior and primary schools around Luton and Bedfordshire designed posters to encourage the wearing of seatbelts.

The two winners - one from Luton and one from the County – each received a £250 Halfords voucher.

The picture (right) shows the Mayor of Luton presenting the voucher to the Luton winner - a pupil from Ramridge Infants School - at the Arnedale Centre. The school also received a cheque.

Posters and literature are being produced in five languages and distributed to various establishments for display, in a bid to persuade people to use seatbelts and child restraints.
