Dorset walking
incentive available for others to use
A
new incentive for Dorset schools that encourage pupils to walk to
school on a regular basis - by supporting Walk to School
events or having a School Travel Plan in place is being made
available for other authorities to utilise.
"A new laser-designed three dimensional crystal paperweight
featuring an image of children walking across a globe is being offered
to schools for them to use as a reward for the class with the highest
percentage of regular walkers," explains Robert Smith,
Dorsets road safety team leader. "The paperweight
can be presented every half-term or at the end of term, or even
on a weekly basis."
Dorset is happy for other authorities to purchase a quantity of
the paperweights for use in their schools. Local authorities can
have their own logo inscribed on the paperweight and the cost is
around £30 each depending on the number ordered.
