TransNet
seeks help with travel plans for infant schools and nurseries
Young TransNet - which is using the internet to give young
people a say on transport issues - is exploring opportunities to
engage with very young children in developing travel plans for pre-school
establishments.
"We currently have more than 900 schools using our web resources,"
says Andrew Stuck, Young Transnet project manager.
"Of these around 45 are infant schools or nurseries.
Working with two local authorities - Birmingham and Somerset
Young Transnet has developed an on-line travel plan wizard
that enables school managers to develop a travel plan.
"Increasingly we are getting enquiries from pre-school establishments
about how they can develop travel plans," Andrew Stuck adds.
"So we are trying to find out if there is anything that someone
else has developed in this field - and if not whether another organisation
would like to work with us to develop something."
Andrew Stuck can be contacted at the National Children's Bureau
on 020 7843 6325, or by email at astuck@ncb.org.uk.
