Volunteers have been recruited from schools and the local community. By co-incidence, the 100th volunteer is Beverly Morrison, daughter of road safety education officer Irene Morrison. "Taking part in Kerbcraft has been a fantastic experience," said 22-year-old Beverly. "This type of practical training is very beneficial and watching the progress of the children each week makes volunteering worthwhile." North Lanarkshire Council was one of the first councils in Scotland to be involved in the scheme, through which Primary 1 children from 11 schools are involved in practical pedestrian training. Kerbcraft, which is funded by the Scottish Executive for a three-year period, received three awards last year at the annual Volunteers Awards Ceremony. www.larsoa.org.uk
