Road safety
show a hit with Bracknell schools
Pete Ashbys Road Safety Show successfully toured nursery
and infant schools in and around Bracknell between 20-30 April.
The tour was organised by Bracknell Forest road safety team.
"The show comprises a blend of magic that is used as a vehicle
to get across serious road safety messages in a fun and interactive
way," says Chris Pickett, road safety officer.
"The main messages include holding hands with a grown up at
all times, using child safety seats and seat belts in vehicles,
and the Green Cross Code."
The road show presenter Louis Taylor uses characters
called Chadwick the Chimp, Billy Beacon and - for older children
- Mr Rocco. The children in the audience have an interactive role
throughout the show.
A more comprehensive show for older children involves the children
in the use of safe crossing places - Mr Rocco the racoon plays an
important part in this.
The road show is a first for Bracknell Forest Council and compliments
the other work being carried out by the council's road safety team.
According to Chris Pickett, all the participating schools were very
impressed with the show.
