learns about meeting without moving
Television personality and businessman Noel Edmonds
joined RoSPA in a groundbreaking bid to reduce accidents
among people driving for work.
More than 130 fleet and safety professionals met in Hertfordshire
to experience how video conferencing can save the need for thousands
of miles of driving. Noel Edmonds spoke to the RoSPA seminar at
the Watford Hilton from his home in Devon on Wednesday using a video
link, and then answered questions from the audience.
"Noel demonstrated just how effective good-quality video conferencing
can be in cutting risk by reducing the need for unnecessary road
journeys," said Roger Bibbings, RoSPA occupational
safety adviser.
"He explained how video conferencing not only saves time and
money, but also can make a major contribution to employee welfare,
including reducing fatigue and stress and improving work/life balance."
Noel has launched a new video conferencing venture, face2face,
a nationwide network of over 300 video meeting rooms. RoSPA is working
with face2face to promote the concept of Meeting Without Moving
in an effort to reduce the number of work-related road accidents.
The Focusing on Performance event in Watford built on RoSPA's
previous seminars on managing occupational road risk (MORR). Delegates
learned about other RoSPA innovations, including how to assess drivers
online and SenseAbility, a virtual reality test for drivers.
They were briefed on how to bring MORR into mainstream health and
safety management, as for the majority of people the most dangerous
thing they do at work is to drive.
