Child seat check throws up worrying results

A free baby/child seat check that took place on 15 May in Bracknell threw up some worrying results.

The safety event was jointly hosted by Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Britax and Halfords and experts were on-hand to offer advice and guidance on keeping children safe.

70 people were given advice and 61 seats checked during the day. Of those 61 seats, 25 had either a major or minor fault, and eight were incompatible. Just 28 – less than half the total tested - were fitted correctly.

"If a car seat has been fitted incorrectly then it is almost as dangerous in the event of a collision as having no car seat at all," says Bracknell RSO Christine Pickett.
