ROAD SAFETY NEWS - UPDATED 31 MAY 2004

‘Walkers breakfast’ provided for children and parents

Children and parents in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea hit the pavements last week as part of the national Walk to School campaign.

32 schools and nurseries in the Royal Borough – the highest number so far – participated in the annual campaign.

The launch of the campaign was held at Colville Primary School in North Kensington, where a ‘walker’s breakfast’ was laid on for parents and children, along with a demonstration of one of the mobile speed camera units used by the London Safety Camera Partnership.

The class at each school that has the most pupils walking during the week will receive a certificate and the top three ‘walking’ schools in the Royal Borough will be awarded a ‘Walk to School’ trophy to commend their achievement.
