Speeding drivers offered alternative to points
Speeding motorists are being given the option of meeting the mother of a girl killed by a teenage driver instead of being punished with fines and penalty points on their licences, according to a report in the Sunday Times on 20 March.
The report says that Medway Council in Kent has introduced the scheme to persuade drivers who go too fast to face the possible consequences of their actions.
Similar schemes are being offered nationwide as part of a government campaign to persuade motorists that speed cameras are not just there to collect revenue.
