Shropshire
teenagers given alcohol advice
Shropshire teenagers are being given advice on alcohol to make them
more aware of the dangers when they inevitably experiment with beer,
so-called designer drinks and shots. 50,000 leaflets
on the subject are to be distributed to the Countys 13 to
16 year olds so that they can make an educated decision
about alcohol.
In the UK today alcohol is consumed by 92 per cent of men and 86
per cent of women, and one in 13 adults are believed to be alcohol
dependent. As well as leading to domestic violence, broken marriages
and ill health, alcohol is the root cause of many accidents on our
roads.
The
campaign is a joint initiative between Telford Training Consultants
(TTC 2000) and Wrekin Community Safety Partnership.
"Educating
the young is the key to helping them make better informed choices
and preventing them turning into the alcohol dependent adult of
the future," said TTC 2000s Jenny Feehan, whose
organisation is the UKs largest provider of education courses
for convicted drink drivers.
TTC is also currently involved in educating UK transport managers
as part of a Freight Transport Association initiative aimed at keeping
them informed on the affects of drink and drugs.
