Cornwall launches driver training initiative

Cornwall County Council's road safety unit has launched its new driver training initiative, Collision Avoidance Training, at RAF Portreath.

The initiative is designed primarily to enable the driver to recognise potential skid situations and take avoiding action by exposing them to conditions such as driving on ice and aquaplaning.

The training also demonstrates the effect certain conditions can have on stopping distances and the use of anti-lock braking systems.
