ROAD SAFETY NEWS - UPDATED 29 NOVEMBER 2004

Mimi's art boosts road safety

A pupil from Hyndland Primary School will have her road safety drawing featured on next year's road safety calendar for Glasgow schools.

The illustration by Mimi-Evans Agnew (aged 11), a junior road safety officer, is on the theme of the Green Cross Code and incorporates the words 'Stop, Look and Listen'. This year's calendar competition had two other themes: In-car Safety (seatbelts) and Safer Crossing Places.

A total of 20 primary schools across Glasgow were invited to take part in the competition. All entries will be displayed at the Museum of Transport next month. The 2005 calendar will be sent to every nursery, primary and secondary school across the city.

"Improving road safety at school is a priority for the council," councillor Alan Stewart said. "Our annual calendar competition helps children focus on this important subject and raises their road safety awareness."
