Poster campaign launched to help foreign drivers

Grampian Police have launched a poster campaign in Aberdeenshire to make migrant workers aware of the UK's strict drink drive laws.

In many eastern European countries there are no equivalent prohibitions. Grampian Police have produced posters and leaflets in Russian, Polish and Lithuanian, which are being distributed to food processing sites and public places.

Chief inspector William MacColl said: "We have undertaken this initiative to raise the issue with people from other nations where drink driving is perhaps not dealt with as strictly as it is in Scotland. In recent weeks we have dealt with a number of motorists who were clearly not fully aware of the law."
