Mega success with Megadrive 2004

Over 1000 youngsters from six colleges across Gwent have been taking part in this year's Megadrive, an award-winning pre-driver education initiative.

Megadrive is run between numerous associations including Gwent Police, Mid and South Wales Safety Camera Partnership, Capita Symonds Road Safety and the Institute of Advanced Motorists. The initiative, aimed at 16 and 17-year-olds, educates prospective young motorists in responsible driving before they get behind the wheel.

At each venue, participants visit 10 interactive workstations to be tested on various aspects including the ability to foresee potential hazards and the effects of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The session ends with a 15-minute drive under the guidance of an approved instructor.
