ROAD SAFETY NEWS - UPDATED 4 OCTOBER 2004

Think! Speed campaign tackles inappropriate speeds on rural roads

A new burst of Think! Speed activity begins on 4 October, with the focus on the dangers of driving at inappropriate speeds on rural roads.

The first phase of this two phase campaign tackling speed, will use radio, posters and PR activity to emphasise the potential problems drivers going too fast can encounter on non-built up roads, however familiar they may be.

Radio advertisements will be running nationally 4-31 October and will be complimented by posters featuring similar messages. The posters and a press release are available online at
www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk. (The product code for 'Isolated Affair-A4' is T/INF/948, A3 T/INF/949, and for 'He Thought He Knew', is A4 T/INF/950, A3 T/INF/951).

The second phase of the campaign will follow in the New Year. This will feature a new television commercial, radio and further posters, with messages aimed at highlighting the reasons for speed limits and the very human consequences of not abiding by them. Further information on the second phase will be available later in the year.
