| Youngsters accelerate on driving course
The AA, BSM driver training and ITE Autotech, together with local community services, gave 20 young people the chance to take part in a special driving course in Poole.
Following the success of the U 2Drive project in 2003, two new vehicle awareness courses were established at Bourne Valley Youth Centre. Running alongside each other, MO-T-V8 for 15-year-olds and U can Drive 2 for school leavers gave the pre-driving age youngsters the opportunity to learn about modern motoring.
AA representatives at the ITE workshops outlined basic vehicle maintenance while BSM instructors supplied a fleet of dual control vehicles. Part of the course also included a mock theory driving test and hazard perception awareness facilities. On completion, 20 participants were presented with their certificates
and 'L' plates.
Further information on the course is available from Lesley Hart at the Borough of Poole lhart@poole.gov.uk
