Teams support Be safe Be seen
With British summer time ending last weekend, three road safety teams are supporting the DfT's latest Be safe, Be seen initiative.
Cornwall County Council's Road Safety Unit launched its annual campaign through a series of road safety assemblies in primary schools across the county (top pic). During the assemblies children were shown how different clothing and reflective items can help them to be seen and to stay safe on the road.
In Lancashire, shoppers were urged to 'use their loaf' and make sure they can be seen on the roads.
The county's road safety group linked up with local ASDA supermarkets where campaign hedgehogs in the shape of hedgehog bread were featured. Fluorescent and reflective hedgehog stickers were also available to help children to stay visible on the roads (middle pic).
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council also reinforced the Be safe, Be seen message (bottom pic). Children were given t-shirts and fluorescent laces and pets benefited from Blinkies - a flashing light attached to a dogs collar to make both the dog and person walking it more noticeable.
