'Drive her crazy' scoops award

A campaign designed by media students working with FirstCar magazine has won the LARSOA campaign of the quarter competition for the period July - September 2006.

All new campaigns and initiatives reported on the LARSOA newsfeed are considered for the award, which is judged on the basis of innovation and creativity.

Drive her crazy evolved out of research suggesting that the most effective way to encourage young drivers to drive more safely is to make bad driving appear 'uncool'.

The creative encourages young male drivers to 'impress her with your skills behind the wheel...just like you would between the sheets'.

Drive her crazy features in the current issue of FirstCar and is also available for RSOs to use locally. Contact James Evans for more information on 01235 537755 or james@firstcar.co.uk.

A road safety booklet, compiled by children at Sunnybrow Primary School and Durham County Council's road safety team, finished runner up.

The children drew pictures to reinforce safety messages including asking drivers to slow down, finding a safe place to cross, using crossing patrols and wearing seatbelts. 20 of the pictures feature in the booklet, which was distributed to parents and others in the local community.

For further information about the booklet contact Ann Corbett, ann.corbett@durham.gov.uk.
