Road safety games for boring car journeys

Hertfordshire's Road Safety Unit has launched a new resource for children that has been developed from routine roadside seatbelt and speed checks.

The new leaflet contains six games that can be played on car journeys. Each game concentrates on a different aspect of road safety, thereby educating as well as entertaining participants.

The games also encourage children to monitor the behaviour of adults. For example, in a game where the players score points for spotting speed limit signs, they don't get the points if the driver is exceeding that speed at the time. In another, they are asked to check that everyone in the car is wearing seatbelts.
