HIOLI launches rider development courses

Rider coaching weekends, aimed specifically at riders of sports bikes and similar machines, have been launched in the Cleveland area under the Handle It Or Lose It (HIOLI) banner.

The HIOLI campaign sets out to reduce casualties among riders of sports and other high-powered motorcycles.

Similar in many respects to those offered under BikeSafe, the courses are promoted and delivered very much in the HIOLI style. They draw heavily on consumer research carried out by Geoff Crowther at Huddersfield University and on recent findings by the Shiny Side Up Partnership.

The coaching weekends are fronted by Neil Ellison from the Cleveland Casualty Reduction Group and Mark Robinson and feature individual coaching from off-duty police riders. Priced at just £80, the weekends have earned considerable praise from participants. "These guys are here to help, and have more skill and knowledge of bike riding than most of us could dream of," said one participant.
