'Speeding's not impressive', campaign says
Safety camera partnerships in the Midlands have launched a joint campaign aimed at bringing home the consequences of speeding to 17-24 year old drivers.
Speeding - It's not impressive! focuses on teenagers and young adults in everyday situations where speed and road safety may not be an immediate thought. The campaign - which uses straplines alongside hard-hitting visuals showing the aftermath of a collision - will run on billboards, trains, bus backs, and cinema screens across the region during September. It will also feature at Freshers' Fairs and in a viral email campaign to selected students.
The campaign is targeting a difficult group, but draws on research showing that drivers in this age group don't make the connection between speeding and dangerous driving. The majority don't think an accident will happen to them and some even admit to getting a buzz out of driving fast.
The campaign has two executions - First Date? and Out with your mates?.
