Puppets teach 'Doggone' safety lessons

Dogworthy's Magic Roadshow, is performing to young audiences in Derbyshire and Buckinghamshire in a bid to reduce child road casualties.

The 45-minute puppet theatre play, which follows the story of Dogworthy and his near miss with a car, is aimed at five to eight year old children.

Derbyshire's cabinet member for community safety services, councilor Joyce Sanders said: "Through our road safety work in schools the county council is teaching youngsters to be more alert and aware when they are out and about. Puppet theatre is a visual and captivating way in which to communicate those messages to young children."

Valerie Letheren Buckinghamshire's portfolio holder for transportation added: "This play is a very effective and entertaining way of getting the message across to young children to raise their levels of safety and awareness."
