Arrive Alive Motorbike, the latest part of the DSA's Arrive Alive programme, focuses on the vulnerability of young riders. The presentation delivered under the programme uses film footage to show real results of road accidents and the consequences of rider error. The programme has been developed as an increasing number of young people are turning to motorbikes and scooters as a cost effective means of transport. The presentation does not seek to persuade or dissuade young people from riding bikes - but offers advice and safe riding tips from expert examiners. The DSA says that newly qualified riders and drivers are especially vulnerable for the first two years, and are less able to anticipate potential hazards than more experienced motorists. As a result they are involved in a much higher proportion of serious and fatal accidents than other driver/rider groups. The 'Arrive Alive' programme was created to try and reduce the number of crashes involving young people. Arrive Alive presentations are given free of charge to young people in schools and colleges, the armed forces, youth football teams, the probation service and young offenders' units.
