DTW appointed to provide public relations support to LARSOA

DTW has been appointed to deliver communications support to LARSOA - the Local Authority Road Safety Officers' Association.

The company was selected by LARSOA, following a competitive tendering process to promote the work and opinions of the national organisation that represents road safety officers (RSOs) employed in local government across the UK.

DTW will publicise LARSOA's work in assisting RSOs to fulfill their statutory role to reduce the number and severity of road casualties through education, training, and publicity programmes.

LARSOA also aims to influence national debate - government policy and action together with public opinion. The association works to achieve national recognition for road safety issues where there may be conflict with current policies and programmes, commissions research into behaviour which contributes to road collisions and develops national road safety campaigns as well as promoting best practice.

On the LARSOA website www.larsoa.org.uk the association runs a news service providing up-to-date information on national and international road issues for RSOs all over the UK.

LARSOA also advises government on road safety policy and assists in identifying achievable national targets to reduce the number of collisions on the country's roads.

Guisborough-based DTW is one of the UK's leading public sector PR specialists. Account Director Neil Shaefer said: "We are delighted to be working with LARSOA, an organisation which is dedicated to making travelling on the UK's roads safer for all of us.   We will work closely with LARSOA officers to co-ordinate and strengthen the promotion of the activities LARSOA undertakes to ensure the vital road safety messages are heard by the public."

Simon Ettinghausen, LARSOA Chair, added: "It is vitally important that the voice of RSOs across the UK is heard. This will give us the opportunity to make sure our views are clearly understood and ensure we contribute to the road safety debate."
