‘Lollipop people’ stand out from the crowd

Leicestershire’s school crossing patrols modelled new uniforms, designed to make them even more visible, at a recent training day.

The school crossing patrols will now wear a uniform of red and yellow instead of the traditional all-yellow jacket. The uniform will be complimented by high visibility chevrons on the body and arms, and a distinctive red hat.

Leicestershire’s SCPs are also being encouraged to work more closely with the county’s other road safety professionals.

James Gibson, senior RSO, says: “Our patrols are actively being encouraged to work with our road safety staff on initiatives connected with schools, for example helping with pedestrian training and cyclist training. We hope that this will develop over the coming months.”

For further information contact James Gibson on 0116 305 7232.
