Junior road safety officers (JRSOs) from around Leicestershire are being presented with a certificate, badge and road safety pack at a series of presentation evenings to launch the start of the junior road safety scheme for the new school year.
Leicestershire first introduced the JRSO initiative in 1987 to promote road safety awareness in the county’s schools, and around three quarters of all primary schools take part.
Each year, two students in their final year of primary school are selected to take up the role of JRSO on behalf of their school. They promote road safety to their fellow students by maintaining notice boards giving information and advice on being aware and staying safe.
