Four Leicestershire schools have been commended for their commitment to the county council’s Star Walker scheme, which encourages pupils and their families to walk to school.
Under the scheme, pupils are given a Star Walker passport, which they get stamped every time they walk to school. Stamps can then be exchanged for rewards, such as high visibility stickers, keyrings, bags, mugs and stationery, which increase in ‘value’ as the child builds up the stamps.
Whitwick St John the Baptist Church of England Primary School, Broom Leys School, Coalville, Booth Wood Primary in Loughborough and The Meadow County Primary School in Wigston each received special ‘long service’ certificates.
