The ‘WOW’ factor

Children_wow_scheme
Middlesbrough pupils are about to be ‘WOWed’ by a new walking scheme.

Walk Once a Week (WOW) is being launched by Middlesbrough’s road safety team to encourage and reward pupils who walk at least once a week.

Jackie Robson, principal RSO, said: "Middlesbrough Council has always supported Walk to School Week and while we were pleased to see the numbers of pupils walking increase during the week-long campaign, they gradually tailed-off once the campaign was over.

“The new WOW scheme will run all year long and will hopefully encourage pupils to walk more regularly”.

Schools taking part in WOW will be provided with posters and wall charts as well as stickers designated bronze for 10 walks, silver for 20 walks and gold for 35 walks.
