Campaign targets older pedestrians

Pedestrians_WOSRSF_Older_image
A campaign to highlight the dangers faced by older pedestrians crossing the road has been launched by the West of Scotland Road Safety Forum (WoSRSF).

Every second day a pensioner pedestrian is killed or injured on roads across the West of Scotland and, as the clocks go back, older people are being advised to take more care. The campaign highlights the risks to the 60+ age group and encourages them to use pedestrian crossings.

The campaign features a TV advert telling the story of two women who used to spend time together shopping and socialising, which came to an end after one had a serious collision while crossing the road. There is also a radio campaign, advertising in bus interiors and posters and leaflets in leisure centres, libraries and other public buildings.
