HA to launch follow up biker resource

Motorcyclist_biker_resource
The Highways Agency’s follow up to the ‘Great Roads Great Rides’ motorcycle DVD comprises a second DVD and a computer game/programme.

‘Great Roads Great Rides 2’ puts the viewer on the bike, inside the helmet and close to the road. It features a typical ride out which includes motorway, town and countryside roads.

Glenn Julian, RoPSA Diploma holder and the rider in the film, delivers his observations of the road in an informal style and from his professional perspective. His remit is not to instruct or assess performance but to describe how he reads the road.

The journey has been filmed in HD and is delivered in real-time to create a sense of being involved in the action.

The second element of the resource, ‘Take the Challenge’, launches an interactive ‘Reading the Road’ programme when placed in a computer.

Developed by a leading games company, it places the viewer on the bike and in the riding position as the whole journey is ridden again. This time the challenge is to identify dangers, and completing the challenge unlocks a bonus section.

Four supporting posters are available to reinforce the skills required to read the road effectively and promote the DVD.

Great Roads Great Rides Volume 2 will be launched at RoSPA Congress in February 2009.
