Road safety for squaddies

Drink_driving_Squaddie_dummies
Wrexham Council joined forces with Wrexham Fire Service to remind Territorial and regular Army personnel of the dangers of drink driving.

Personnel from Wrexham’s 101 Force Support Battalion REME were given a presentation by White Watch and Wrexham’s assistant RSO, Wendy Davies-Williams, at the Wrexham Barracks.

The ‘Impact Road Show’ comprises a presentation involving a car previously used on Top Gear for crash testing. Inside the vehicle are two manikins displaying injuries that can be sustained during a collision.

The soldiers were also shown a DVD produced by local school children showing the consequences of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The presentation is part of the road safety section’s campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of drink driving over the festive period. They have targeted a wide variety of age groups and professions, from school children to army personnel.

For further information contact Wendy Davies-Williams on 01978 297142.
