Campaign mixes romance and bikers

Bikers Romance
Greater Manchester’s Casualty Reduction Partnership and Lancashire’s RideSafe BackSafe team have joined forces with the Highways Agency to produce a DVD for young motorcycle and scooter riders.

‘First Date’ takes a story of young love and romance and compares the pitfalls and mistakes made on a first date with those made by young and inexperienced bikers.

Karen Delaney, RideSafe BackSafe spokesperson, explains: “Due mostly to over exuberance and a lack of experience, many 16-24 year olds are adding to the statistics.”

The campaign has gained the support of colleges and universities across Greater Manchester and Lancashire, many of whom have displayed posters. It will launch on 14 February at Central Peel Square, Trafford Centre, Manchester, when copies of the DVD will be given away free of charge.
