South Ayrshire claims Scottish ‘first’

Ayr Motorcycle sign
South Ayrshire Council says it is the first council in Scotland to introduce high visibility signs on routes where there is a history of motorcycle road crashes.

RSOs consulted with bikers who told them the best way to address the problem is through signs telling riders that they are travelling on a high-risk route.

Councillor Peter Convery said: “We consulted the people that we want to target and have listened to them. The signs warn motorcyclists to take extra care, but very importantly, they also let drivers of other vehicles know that motorcyclists use the route and they need to take extra care.”
