Campaign urges bikers to ‘report it’

Motorcyclist_Highway_detect_report_card
Cornwall and Devon road safety units have launched their ‘See It, Report It’ campaign for motorcyclists.

The initiative comprises a plastic, waterproof and durable ‘credit card’ giving contact information for the area’s four local authorities. The card is designed to help bikers report highway defects such as potholes, diesel spills and faulty manhole covers.

The cards were launched at a meeting of Peninsula Motorcycle Forum (PMF) in Truro. The forum comprises motorcyclists, RSOs and the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, who share views on increasing the use of motorcycles while decreasing motorcyclist casualties.

Elizabeth Long, Cornwall’s motorcycle safety officer, says: “The card, which gives bikers direct access to report to us road issues which could be a hazard for them, is just one of a number of valuable initiatives that have been a direct result of this (PMF). Working together has proved very positive for assisting us implement motorcycle casualty reduction initiatives which the bikers consider really affect their safety.”
