New aid to help drivers stay awake

Driver_tiredness_cd_cover_herts
Hertfordshire’s RSOs have developed an aid to help drivers stay awake on the roads this summer.

The 'Revive & Survive' Driver Rest Session CD helps drivers get maximum benefit from a 20-minute rest. Created in conjunction with a composer and linguistic programmer, it uses pulsing tones and positive commands to help drivers relax more deeply, more quickly. It is designed to reduce tiredness, increase concentration levels and improve the standard of driving.

Hertfordshire says that in tests, nearly 85% of participants thought that they achieved a better quality of rest. Almost 60% thought it extended the time before they felt tired again and nearly 80% said their standard of driving improved after using the CD.

The CD must not be listened to while driving. Drivers are advised to park somewhere safe and lock the vehicle doors for added security.

The Rest Session can be downloaded from www.hertsdirect.org/roadsafety
